I've caught an illness...

Something is seriously wrong with me. I'm having the hardest time getting things done and all I want to do is lay on the coach and watch TV all day. I couldn't figure out my problem for a while and then all the sudden it hit me. I have caught a serious case of SENIORITIS!!! I don't know what to do about it or how to get rid of it. The harder I try to get some motivation the faster it goes away. Let me just give you a little example. A couple weeks ago I opened an assignment and saw that I had to read an article that was 20 pages long and then write a paper about it and instead of just getting it done I closed my computer and went to bed. Ya I didn't even read one word of that article. Then for another class that is online, I have assignments due every Tuesday and last Wednesday morning I woke up and thought "oops I totally forgot about my assignment last night" and then I didn't really give it even a second thought. Where as in the past I probably would have emailed the teacher to see if I could still do it and get some points for it but I'm just totally over it! It is seriously getting out of control. If I don't start doing something I might not make it to December. Maybe I shouldn't be telling every one that I'm so close to graduating.

I think I can pull through. I bought my cap and gown last week. That was exciting! And I made a chain at work and I get to take off a chain after each class day and since I only go to classes twice a week I only have 11 more days of class to go! Woohoo! I can't wait to just be done with school! And I'm hoping that with all of the holidays coming up it will all go by really fast!

What's New?

When people ask me that question I never have a very good response. BJ and I are kind of boring and stick to our same day to day routine. Not very often do we actually have something new to talk about but we actually have a few things right now.

#1 NEW CAR

I already wrote about this a little but BJ's car had lots of miles on it and it seemed we were spending money on it every month to get it fixed so we decided it was time to start looking for something new. I get done with work early on Wednesdays so I met BJ at the Toyota dealership right after work and I was pretty sold on the Camry. I think they are cute cars and we would be getting a pretty good deal on it with 0% financing so I thought that was great but we weren't quite ready to commit. Well I went to teach dance and I was there for like 2 and a half hours and then I callled BJ and my way home and he said that we were getting a Honda accord! It wasn't quite like that but pretty much so I was a little shocked and kind of panicking but it all worked out and we left the car dealership at about 11 pm with a new car! Those car sales men are really good at what they do.

#2 New Garden

We have had a spot in our back yard to do a garden since we did our back yard but we just put it all together a couple weeks ago. I am so excited to have a garden! We haven't actually planted anything yet but that is coming soon! Here are the before and after shots of our garden!

#3 New Hair

I chopped my hair off! It was definitely time for a change. Here are the before and after shots. I had BJ take a picture of my long hair before I cut it!

Soon to be ASU Grad!

So since I'm going to be an ASU grad in a few months I found it necessary to get an ASU sticker for my car! And I really like it! It took me like 3 weeks to finally put it on though because you have to put it on a clean surface and I NEVER wash my car. So yesterday I washed it and waxed it and did wheel and tire shine! When I told BJ that I washed the car he was shocked and he said, "Is this really Alexis I'm talking to?" I was very proud of myself and I think the sticker looks so cute! GO DEVILS!!

Back to School!

So I guess I was never really off school since I did all the summer sessions but those are just kind of pretend classes. They are so easy and the teachers are so relaxed and there is hardly anybody on campus. Now that I'm in Fall semester I am realizing how nice that was. I feel like there are sooo many people at school now. I don't even go to the main campus of ASU but this semester it seems like there are so many people at my cute little campus. But anyway, I have a couple funny stories from this week at school.

This first story wasn't actually funny. I was SO mad when this happened! So I'm taking a math class because my math class that I took in Idaho didn't transfer and math just comes easy to me I don't know why it just clicks to me. So I've been doing really well in the class so far I've been keeping up on all my homework and we have quizes every day and I've gotten perfect scores on all of them (I'm not bragging about myself I'm just trying to paint the scenery for you). So on Tuesday I was totally listening the whole time I did all the practice problems with the class and everything and then toward the end of class I started noticing that my gum was getting grose and you know when you have minty gum in your mouth for too long and no food in your stomach it kind of starts to make you feel sick a little? So that's what happened so I was looking in my purse to find something to put my gum into and I found a receipt. So I was looking at the receipt to make sure I could put gum in it and make sure I didn't need it to return something and just then I notice the teacher standing right in front of me. He had completely stopped teaching and walked all the way around the classroom to stand right in front of me so everyone turned to watch what this wacky man was doing. So I look up and he said, "Please don't do this to me." Weird thing to say too huh. I'm like "sorry" as I'm turning bright red with embarrassment and furry! Seriously was I being that distracting. I mean are we in like 7th grade here. And I could understand maybe if I was doing really bad in the class and had been asking lots of questions or if I was doing something that was distracting the other students or playing with my phone SOMETHING! But I really wasn't even doing anything! Is that weird or am I just totally over exaggerating? Then at the end of class I went up to turn in my quiz and he said, "I'm sorry I bore you so bad." Ahh he bugs me so bad! So I explained to him what I was doing and that I really wasn't even bored. Sometimes I just hate stupid teachers and their stupid power trips!

Ok so the next story really is funny. This story is also about my math class because the whole class is freshman basically. There are probably like 3 seniors and then the rest are all in their first semester of college. So on Thursday I was leaving class and this one kid like ran up to me as I was leaving and then just started walking and talking to me and clearly trying to be flirtatious. I'm not one of those girls who thinks just because I guy is talking to you it means that they are flirting or whatever but sometimes you can just tell you know. I thought it was pretty funny and I kept trying to flash my ring at him but he clearly was not getting it. He probably didn't even know to look for a ring this poor kid is just fresh out of high school and there aren't too many young married people at ASU anyway. So I already thought it was funny enough and then our conversation just made it even better.

james: Hi I'm James what is your name?
me: Alexis. Nice to meet you James
james: ya, so how are you liking this class? I get so confused in there sometimes it like he's speaking another language or something.
me: Ya I usually get it by the end of class though don't you?
james: Ya its not too bad. So are you a freshman?
me: No I'm a senior. This is my last semester, I'm graduating in December.
james: Oh! Well I'm a freshman.

Just walk for a few seconds not talking.

James: I'm so excited its almost the weekend. My class got canceled for tomorrow so my weekend starts today.
me: That's exciting. I just have school on Tuesdays and Thursdays and then my internship on the other days so I have to work tomorrow.
james: what are you doing for your internship
me: I work at a dental office
james: oh that's cool. my major is physical education so I think I want to be a coach at a high school or somthing.
me: That's cool I would really like to do somthing like that too.
james: Cool. I got my braces off this summer
me: (trying not to laugh because I felt like that was so random) Thats good.
james: ya I had them on for like 3 years!
me: ok well I have to go this way so I'll see you later.

I was laughing so hard when I was walking away and I had to call BJ and tell him what happened. And as I was talking to BJ I realized he said something about his braces because I work at a dental office. But that didn't occur to me when I was with him so I was seriously dying. I thought it was so funny!

So I guess the point of this post is that I'm not a freshman! I don't need teachers to baby me and I am just way older and more mature than these freshman boys! Haha!

OK, OK I know! It's about time I'm updating!

I have no excuses! I have just been totally blog lazy! But we had a great summer! We did a lot of playing and a lot of working. (With probably a little more playing than working). The summer has been sooo HOT! Notice that I say has been, ya it is still over 100 almost everyday. Not fun! But now that we are in September hopefully it will only be a few more weeks of this horrible weather.

I totally understand if you don't want to read this whole thing! I realize it is super LONG! Sorry about that!

We had some problems with our camera this summer. It seems like every trip we went on the battery was dead or we didn't have the memory card or for some other crazy reason we didn't take many pictures at all! Totally stupid! But luckily we have other responsible people around us who are good at taking pictures. So I will give a little description of all our major events that happened this summer and then add pictures if we have any. Sound good?

May

I finished school in the middle of May and then in the end of May we went to Colorado for Stephen's (BJ's brother) high school graduation. We had so much fun with BJ's family and his oldest sister Jen brought a boy home with her to meet the family and at the time they were just dating... (stay tuned for the happy ending). Here are some pictures from this trip!
Graduation Pictures
His brother is the super tall one!
Jen and Nic with the High School Grad!

This is Garden of the Gods. It's so pretty so we took advantage and got lots of pictures!
June

I started school again in June but I was only taking one class and it was so nice because it was only a 5 week class. I'm a big fan of short semesters so you can just pack everything in and get it out of the way! It was so nice. I also started teaching dance and am really liking it. The only problem is that my classes are really small but I'll take what I can get. Mean while BJ has been working very hard at work and he got enough accounts so he could get an office assistant! Yay! It's really nice for him to have her help out at the office so she can do all the paper work and everthing and he can focus on the important stuff. Edward Jones has a regional meeting every year in June and this year it was in Henderson, NV. And it was such a blast! The hotel we stayed at was beautiful!!! I seriously felt like I was in Hawaii! And Edward Jones treats us so well! They had great classes for BJ and also for the spouces and then they had beautiful dinners at night. The last night we had a big formal dinner so we got all dressed up and they started out with cocktails (which we obviously didn't drink but it was kind of fun to have it so formal) and then we went into the dinner where everything was so beautiful and the food was great and they presented awards all night. It was so fun and I can't wait til next year!!
Here are a few pictures of the hotel we stayed at. It was seriously amazing!

July

We started off July by going to California with my family for our annual 4th of July trip! Might I add my favorite trip of the year! I always get so sad when this trip is over because that means I have to wait a whole year before we get to go back. I seriously love it though because we just hang out on the beach all day and eat good food and play fun games at night! This year we got new family pictures so I put a couple below! (I need to get more pictures from my mom)

We stayed for about 5 days and then had to head back so I could start the second session of the summer semester. For this session I took two 5 week classes and english was one of them. I HATE english classes. But I got through it and I'm so glad I took it in the summer it made it so much easier. sorry I haven't talked about BJ very much but he was just busy with work and busy trying to find ways to stay out of this horrible heat! At the end of July we went up to Utah for just a weekend. BJ's brother Stephen was going up to BYU-Idaho for school so BJ wanted to take him up there and show him around so I went along and went to Jen's (BJ's sister) bridal shower! Yay! Jen got engaged in June and we did wedding stuff all weekend! So fun! (stay tuned there's even more to that story in the next month).

August

So I finished my summer classes, BJ is so sick of the hot summer months at this point just in time for us to make another trip up to Utah! We went to Bear Lake where BJ's parents have a cabin. This trip was such a BLAST! I love the lake and can you think of anything better than staying in a cabin that is right on the lake and you go out all day everyday and wake board and tube and maybe see 3 other boats during the whole day? YA! It was amazing! The water was glass the whole time! It stormed the day before we got there and the day we left but we had a great time while we were there. They have 4 wheelers the you ride everywhere and then little beaches that the little kids can play on. It is so fun! I can't wait for this trip next year too! And to top it all off Jen got married in the middle of the week! It was such a great wedding I'm so glad we got to be there for everything. She married Nic Rudd in the Salt Lake temple and they are so happy! And we could not be happier for them. Everything went so great and the reception was beautiful. I need to get the bear lake pictures from BJ's mom but here are a few from the wedding.

Now

And here we are now! Back to normal life. I started my semester on Aug. 24th and am very excited that this is MY LAST SEMESTER EVER!!! I went and talked to my advisor the other day just to confirm that this was really possible and that I really am going to graduate in December! I can't wait! BJ is doing great at work and is really figuring out what works for him. We have been getting lots done on our house this summer. I need to take some pictures to show. We also just got a NEW CAR!! This was very exciting! But I'm such a dork and get totally attatched to silly things even like cars. As I watched his audi drive away for the last time I was seriously fighting back the tears. Seriously can I be any more nerdy?! I could watch a movie about anything, as sad as you can think of, and wouldn't even feel the urge to cry. But heaven forbid something change in my life and I am a total basket case. I get so attatched to the silliest things. I am going to be a wreck when our kids go off to college or go on missions. I'm going to have to figure something out before then. I will post some pictures of our car soon. It is a Honda Accord and we are hoping to have it for many many many years! But we are very happy with our purchase!

And there we go! We are still alive and doing well! I'm seriously sorry for being such a slacker! I will really try to be better!

School's out for SUMMER!

Go DEVILS!!

Yesterday I took my last final for the semester! I am so happy to be done with school! I'm only 15 credits away from graduating now! Woohoo! It's funny though because I totally have mixed emotions about this semester ending. (P.S. Hilary I stole this picture off your blog.)

Obviously I am so happy to be done with all the papers, projects, tests, and stress. I am happy to actually get some sleep and to not have projects and studying constatly nagging at me. But I have really loved my major! I feel like I have learned so much and not just about exercise and wellness but also tons of lessons that I'll use through out my life. I have had so many awesome professors that are so smart and hilarious! One of my professors has more energy than anyone I've ever seen but she was awesome! I feel like I learned so much in her class because she was so entertaining. She would run across the classroom and wave her arms around to emphasis something. One time she would demonstrating cycling by sitting on a desk and kicking her legs up in the air! You really had to be there but she is so funny! I am going to miss learning about exercise and wellness everyday and I will miss my awesome professors.

I have also met so many great friends that I am going to miss so much now that I'm done with school. Some of my classmates are graduating tomorrow and then a bunch of us are graduating in December but this was the last semester of classes together. Most of us just have our internship and some random classes to get enough credits to graduate. I'm going to miss all of my friends so much! We have become so close because we had like every class every day together. Here are a couple pictures of my friends. After being together everyday for almost a year we only have 2 pictures.

I don't really like either of these pictures of me. I just look like a giant in this one with all my little tiny cute friends. But I'm glad I have these pictures. Thanks Hilary for always having your camera around!

For the most part I am very happy to be done and to have a little break for a few weeks! And then to graduate and never have to go back to school EVER AGAIN! Oh that will be a great day!
